Upon request
Providence acknowledges Jesus Christ as her only head and his word as the final authority in all matters of faith and life. Out of a desire to be faithful to our Lord in both doctrine and structure, and as a local body of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC), we follow a presbyterian form of government:
The session is a governing body consisting of ministers (licensed and ordained by regional presbyteries and are called by the congregation) and ruling elders (elected by the congregation). Elders must meet scriptural qualifications and are ordained for life.
Deacons are elected by their congregations to oversee ministries of mercy. They are ordained, but they do not exercise spiritual rule alongside elders.
As required by the Scriptures, all officers must be men.
Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood. —Acts 20:28
